RAIN RACER ™ Maintenance instructions

Maintenance on house glass, mirrors, greenhouse

No chemicals required, Occasional washing with clean water restores coating. Finger marks glass, mirrors wipe off with a damp cloth or mist over with clean water from a plant spray and just wipe dry with a tissue or kitchen roll.
Should your windows become heavily soiled at any time, washing with soapy water will restore and reinvigorate coating.

SPEED CLEAN™ outside windows with - RAIN RACER™

  1. Wash outside windows with a soft brush and any mild detergent in water (e.g. hand brush/car brush and washing up liquid).
  2. Remove spray head from hose, Run hose at low pressure slowly across the top of windows to rinse off soap/detergent. On large windows repeat half way down the window.
  3. You will now be very surprised when you touch the glass to find that apart from the odd water bead the window is bone dry with no streaks, smears or horrible squeegee marks, Just sparkling clean and optically clear glass. This will work the same on Georgian windows or leaded lights as it does on plain glass.
  4. If a hose is not available, firstly squeegee off the majority of the detergent after washing with the brush. Then use a bucket of clean water and a plastic jug, pour slowly over the windows from the top until all water beads have disappeared. The surface will now be bone dry and free of streaks and smears.

Burnishing gel

You may re-clean at any time on any RAIN RACER™ treated surface without needing to recoat the surface with the polymer. To remove stubborn marks use the blue burnishing gel on a white top nylon scourer and then rinse with clean water.
Accidental damage is easily repaired in situ in minutes and is totally invisible ! e.g. damage on patio doors damage from children's bikes, balls, dog scratches etc. The only way you will notice if an area is damaged, water will collect unevenly in that area. To repair first clean the whole of the window with burnishing gel,
Then you only need to recoat the damaged area !

Re-treatment

Once treated, routine re-treatment is quick and simple

For best self - cleaning properties reapply as soon as required. We recommend every 3 - 4 years.
RAIN RACER™ naturally dissipates microscopically with time or as with all types of surface treatments/coatings will break down with friction and ballistic abrasion (sand and grit in the wind). On house windows RAIN RACER™has a minimum useful lifespan of 3 years from one treatment (click here for application instructions).

Bathrooms and Kitchens

Ceramics, porcelain, china, shower screens etc

From time to time on your bathroom suite. Sponging over with warm water will break any tide marks away from surface and trap them in the water beads. Now simply rinse away with clean water. Occasionally with heavy soiling apply a spot of washing up liquid onto your sponge or non abrasive white top scourer (See FAQ). Then rinse detergent away slowly with clean water using a plastic jug, the surface will be fresh and clean and apart from the odd water bead it is now totally dry. Burnishing gel You may re-clean at any time on any RAIN RACER™ treated surface without needing to recoat the surface with the polymer. To remove stubborn marks use the blue burnishing gel on a white top nylon scourer and then rinse with clean water. Shower screens and ceramic tiles No chemicals required, no need to spray on and breath in shower cleaner daily. To keep limescale off shower screens and tiles re-treat as required at any time. We recommend every 18 months.

Once treated, routine re-treatment is quick and simple

Long Journeys - To Re-apply in bad weather. Pull under petrol station canopy, leave de-misters on and clean and dry screen, then re-apply. Wiper blades - Clean and adjust or replace as required, Test for smearing before driving. Some screen washes can cause smearing on polymer coating. If so replace the screen wash with just fresh clean water and add two capfuls of neat RAIN RACER ™. You can also wipe RAIN RACER ™ down the wiper blades to remove traffic film. When to re-apply - For sharp vision on a vehicle. Windscreens and headlamps as required - we recommend 1000 miles or 1500 kilometres. Side windows, rear windows and wing mirrors re-apply 3 - 4 times a year

How it works and what water beading to look for. After washing with mild detergent then rinse away with clean water. Now look at the shape of the water beads on the glass.

Circular beads = Sharp vision -
Coating is fine and working (regardless of bead size)
Pear/Tear shaped beads = Coating is still non stick for easy cleaning, however beads will not race properly for self cleaning and sharp vision. For sharp vision re-apply.
Irregular shaped beads =
Coating no longer useful or is a damaged area - re-apply
